Infinium supplies eNaphtha for On's CleanCloud EVA midsole

Key highlights
  • Infinium ships CO₂‑derived eNaphtha from Project Pathfinder in Corpus Christi to Borouge’s Porvoo site for conversion to e‑ethylene and EVA.
  • The Cloud X 5 midsole is produced at commercial scale using eNaphtha that is chemically equivalent to conventional naphtha.
  • Commercial volumes of eNaphtha were shipped beginning in 2024, enabling production to exceed one million pairs — four years ahead of the original target.
  • All supply‑chain steps are ISCC PLUS certified; Infinium is expanding output via Project Roadrunner, which will also produce synthetic aviation fuel.

Deal and product

Infinium is supplying CO₂‑derived eNaphtha to Borouge International to support production of the EVA used in the Cloud X 5 midsole. The feedstock is produced from captured CO₂ and renewable hydrogen at Infinium’s Project Pathfinder facility in Corpus Christi.

Technology and compatibility

Because eNaphtha is chemically equivalent to conventional naphtha, it can be processed through existing steam crackers and downstream petrochemical assets without modification. Borouge converts the eNaphtha at its Porvoo operations into e‑ethylene, which is then transformed into EVA for high‑performance footwear applications.

Commercial scale and timing

Infinium began shipping commercial volumes in 2024. Supported by that supply, production of the Cloud X 5 has scaled to more than one million pairs, a milestone reached four years ahead of the brand’s original timetable, moving the concept from prototype to commercial deployment.

Certifications and expansion

Every step of the supply chain is ISCC PLUS certified to verify chain‑of‑custody traceability of the renewable feedstock. Infinium is expanding production with Project Roadrunner in West Texas, which will add renewable chemical feedstocks and synthetic aviation fuel output.
