Transaction completion
Following regulatory approvals, Iberdrola completed the sale of its business in Mexico, transferring commercial operations and a portfolio of generation projects under development to the buyer.
Scope of assets
The deal covers 2,600 MW of installed capacity: 1,368 MW from combined-cycle and cogeneration plants and 1,232 MW from wind and photovoltaic assets; the buyer intends to bring the development projects into operation as part of its expansion in the country.
Strategic rationale
The transaction forms part of Iberdrola’s move to prioritise investments in regulated transmission and distribution networks and in generation operations with long-term contracts, with a focus on key markets such as the United States and the United Kingdom.
