Holcim backs Cloud Cycle to add real-time ML quality control to concrete deliveries

The investment is intended to accelerate deployment of Cloud Cycle’s solution across Holcim’s global fleet.

Cloud Cycle uses in-truck sensors, edge computing and machine learning to continuously optimise concrete quality and mix control during transit and at delivery. The technology has been deployed on more than 150 Holcim mixer trucks in the United Kingdom, Italy and Switzerland and supports low-carbon and circular mixes, including ECOCycle.
Operational impact
Extending quality monitoring from the plant to the delivery site aims to reduce returned concrete and provide additional data-driven checkpoints across the value chain. Holcim says the solution complements its existing AI-powered tools such as Q-Predict, contributing to improved deliveries and its decarbonization roadmap. The investment is part of Holcim’s open innovation strategy managed through Holcim MAQER Ventures.
