Tender outcome
EnviTec Biogas received awards for plants with a total electrical output of around 16 MW in the Federal Network Agency biomass tender. The company had registered 19.6 MW for the round and 82% of that output received an award; seven plants totaling 4.7 MW did not receive awards. EnviTec currently operates 35.9 MW of electrical motor output in the EEG area where it holds a majority stake.
Preparation and procedure
The tender success followed an intensive preparation phase that included developing a technical implementation concept for each plant, quantitative and price calculations, checking entries in the market master data register, defining performance scopes and bid prices, and timely submission of application documents. For the April 1 deadline more than 30 individual bids were prepared. Only plants whose previous EEG funding expires no later than December 31, 2029 were considered, and awarded plants must be implemented within 3.5 years of the award.
Outlook
Management says the awards place part of the plant portfolio on a new long-term remunerated basis and require targeted investments and conversion work, which will also ensure adequate utilization in the service area. The company intends to develop new applications for its plants beyond EEG funding, for example in heat supply and the transport sector, while noting that reliable framework conditions in Germany are needed for sustained activity in those areas.
