EnviTec Biogas Launches First Philippine Plant

Key highlights
  • The 1.4 MW biogas plant in Quezon Province will start feeding electricity into the grid by June 2026.
  • The plant will use poultry manure from 4.5 million broilers and rice-straw silage.
  • Two fermenters with a capacity of 5,250 m³ each are already in place.
  • Future expansion may increase capacity and replicate the model in other regions.

Project Overview

EnviTec Biogas has signed a contract with First Quezon Biogas Corporation to build a 1.4 MW biogas plant in Candelaria, Quezon Province, Philippines. The plant is part of an agricultural cooperative of 14 poultry farmers and aims to feed electricity into the local grid operated by Meralco by June 2026.

Technical Details

The plant will utilize poultry manure from 4.5 million broilers and rice-straw silage to produce both green power and high-quality bio-fertilizer. Two fermenters with a capacity of 5,250 m³ each are already installed, along with a biogas engine, transformer, clamp silo, digestate lagoon, and intake hall for poultry manure.

Environmental Impact

The project will ensure sustainable waste management by converting poultry manure into renewable energy and bio-fertilizer. State-of-the-art odor-control technology will minimize environmental impacts, and local households will receive renewable power free of charge.

Future Plans

Expansion plans are under discussion, which may include increasing the current capacity and replicating the model in other regions of the Philippines.
