EnviTec Biogas AG: Dividend suspended as company pivots to biomethane
- Shareholders approved carrying forward accumulated 2025 profit and suspended the dividend for fiscal year 2025.
- EnviTec secured EEG follow-up subsidies for about 16 MW of electrical output, yielding 12 years for existing and up to 20 years for new installations.
- Around EUR 100 million of investments are planned for 2026–2029 to convert and build plants and shift Own Plant Operation toward biomethane by 2031.
- 2026 guidance: total output EUR 330–370 million and EBT EUR 5–15 million, with sales and earnings expected to recover from 2027.
AGM decision
Shareholders at the Annual General Meeting supported the Executive and Supervisory Boards’ proposal to carry forward the accumulated profit reported as at 31 December 2025 and not to pay a dividend for the fiscal year 2025 to preserve financial flexibility for further development.
Financial performance and guidance
Consolidated earnings declined in 2025 despite higher total output, mainly due to regulatory burdens including the abolition of double counting for GHG quotas and weakness in Plant Construction. In Q1 2026 total output was EUR 92.4 million and EBT EUR 4.1 million. For fiscal year 2026 the Executive Board expects total output of EUR 330–370 million and EBT of EUR 5–15 million, with a return to growth in sales and earnings anticipated from 2027.
EEG tender and investment plan
The company secured EEG follow-up subsidies for around 16 MW of its power portfolio, providing continued operation for subsidised plants (12 years for existing installations, up to 20 years for new plants). EnviTec plans approximately EUR 100 million of investments for 2026–2029 to convert and newly construct plants, including equity-accounted projects.
Strategy and regulatory context
EnviTec is accelerating a strategic shift from electricity to biomethane production, aiming to expand Own Plant Operation biomethane output by 2031. Management notes higher GHG quota prices and RED III as a framework to 2040, but flags regulatory uncertainty such as a draft bill allowing possible disconnection of biomethane plants after 10 years and highlights opportunities from the proposed Building Modernisation Act.
