Key highlights

Project Expansion

Eni and the International Labour Organization (ILO) are expanding their joint project to the Republic of Congo, focusing on occupational safety and health (OSH) and social protection for agri-business workers. This decision follows positive outcomes in Kenya and Côte d’Ivoire.

Focus Areas

The initiative aims to strengthen OSH systems and broaden access to social protection, particularly in health, for workers in the agri-business supply chains. It seeks to empower employers, workers, and stakeholders to enhance OSH practices and increase social protection coverage by enrolling workers in existing schemes.

Strategic Alignment

The project aligns with national strategies and contributes to promoting workplace safety and inclusive development across the value chain. It supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 1.3 on universal social protection, SDG 3 on health and well-being, and SDG 8 on decent work.

Global Steering Committee

The decision to extend the project to the Republic of Congo was made after reviewing progress at the Global Steering Committee meeting on 12 May 2025. The partners acknowledged the positive results achieved and emphasized the partnership’s role in enhancing worker well-being.
