Deal overview

The European Investment Bank and FNM S.p.A. signed an €80 million financing to support the Group’s investment programme in sustainable mobility in Lombardy. The operation is supported by InvestEU and by SACE through its Archimede guarantee.

The financing has a 15‑year duration from the date of use, a 36‑month availability period from signing, amortising repayments and a 3‑year pre‑amortisation. The contract includes financial and non‑financial covenants, suspensive conditions and default events aligned with market practice.

Guarantees and policy alignment

SACE provides a guarantee covering 50% of the financed amount. The transaction is presented as consistent with InvestEU objectives and the EIB’s TechEU strategy, aimed at deploying innovative clean‑tech in the railway value chain.

Purpose and expected impact

Financing will back innovative hydrogen-based projects for rail and road transport to accelerate transport decarbonisation, develop zero‑emission mobility solutions and support FNM’s strategic plan by diversifying funding sources and extending debt maturities.
