DuPont: U.S. healthcare sites now on 100% renewable electricity

Key highlights
  • Twelve U.S. healthcare manufacturing facilities are now matched to 100% renewable electricity.
  • Approximately 30,000 MWh of annual electricity consumption across those sites is covered by U.S.-sourced Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).
  • The change reduces Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions from grid electricity use.
  • The move supports DuPont's 2035 Sustainability Goals, its net-zero-by-2050 ambition, and aligns with its RE100 commitment; over half of DuPont's global electricity is already from renewables.

Announcement

DuPont announced its U.S.-based healthcare manufacturing operations are now powered by 100 percent renewable electricity through the purchase of additional Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).

Scale and emissions

The change covers 12 U.S. manufacturing sites and matches approximately 30,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of annual electricity consumption with U.S.-sourced renewable generation, reducing Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions from grid electricity use.

Targets and context

The milestone supports DuPont’s 2035 Sustainability Goals and its ambition to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, and is part of its RE100 commitment; more than half of DuPont’s total global electricity is already sourced from renewables.

Leadership and next steps

Dean Childers, Vice President and General Manager, DuPont Healthcare Solutions, said powering the additional facilities with renewable electricity advances sustainability commitments and enables a more sustainable healthcare supply chain.

Scott J Collick, Chief Sustainability Officer, VP of Sustainability & Regulatory Compliance, said the achievement contributes to the company’s decarbonization strategy and RE100 commitment. DuPont said it remains committed to expanding renewable energy use, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and helping customers advance their sustainability goals.
