Overview
DuPont has launched an end-to-end Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) portfolio of more than 20 products that span extraction, purification and final concentration technologies to support scalable lithium production from brines as an alternative to hard-rock mining and evaporation.
Technology scope
The portfolio combines lithium-selective sorbents, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis membranes, and ion exchange resins. Named technologies include DuPont™ AmberSorb™ adsorbents for both high- and low-temperature brines, FilmTec™ LiNE nanofiltration and reverse osmosis elements with low salt rejection reverse osmosis (LSRRO) capability, DuPont™ IntegraTec™ and Inge™ ultrafiltration modules, and DuPont™ AmberLite™ ion exchange resins.
Flowsheet approach and performance
DuPont positions the offering as an integrated flowsheet framework that enables either full end-to-end implementation or modular selection of components tailored to specific brine composition, temperature and competing ions, with the stated aim of improving lithium yield, purity and concentration. “By integrating the lithium-selective sorbents, membranes, and ion exchange technologies into a single process design framework, we can optimize the full flowsheet rather than treating them in isolation,” said Dr. Martin Deetz.
Customer support
DuPont offers advanced laboratory testing, process modeling and piloting support through its global R&D network to validate performance on real brine samples and accelerate scale-up. The company hosted an educational webinar on June 18, 2026, to explain how tailored DLE technologies and its support services can increase lithium yield and purity for specific brine resources.
