DePoly is constructing a Showcase Plant in Monthey, Switzerland, at the CIMO site. This facility will have the capacity to process up to 500 tons of PET/Polyester plastics annually. The plant aims to recycle unsorted, untreated, and mixed post-consumer and post-industrial textile and packaging waste streams.
Technology
The plant will utilize technology that breaks down PET plastics into their raw monomers at virgin-grade quality, allowing for the production of recycled PET products identical to oil-based counterparts. This process is energy-efficient and reduces the need for oil extraction.
Timeline and Impact
Construction has begun, and operations are expected to start by the end of the first semester in 2025. The plant will cover approximately 1,500 square meters and is projected to create up to 30 direct and indirect jobs in the region.
