CVC DIF Acquires OMR Moerdijk, Dutch Biogas Firm

Key highlights
  • In 2024, OMR processed 50,000 tonnes of food waste, producing 19 GWh of electricity.
  • A biogas upgrader is being installed to convert raw biogas to biomethane.
  • OMR has been operational since 2005 in Moerdijk, Netherlands.

Acquisition Overview

CVC DIF, part of the global private markets manager CVC, has acquired 100% of OMR Moerdijk B.V. from Perpetual Next Conversions. OMR specializes in processing food waste into biogas using anaerobic digestion at its facility in Moerdijk, Netherlands.

Operational Details

Since 2005, OMR has been converting food waste into biogas, which is then used to generate power and heat through combined heat-and-power turbines. In 2024, the facility processed approximately 50,000 tonnes of food waste, resulting in the production of around 19 GWh of electricity.

Biogas Upgrader Installation

A biogas upgrader is currently being installed at the OMR site. This upgrader will convert the raw biogas produced into high-value biomethane, reducing emissions and enhancing OMR's role in the Dutch energy transition.

Strategic Importance

The acquisition and ongoing upgrades at OMR are expected to support the company's growth and align with increasing regulatory support for biomethane production. This development underscores the strategic importance of converting low-value waste into energy as part of the broader energy transition in the Netherlands.
