Updated Climate Goals
Croda International Plc has announced updated climate goals validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). These targets aim to address the increasing demand for low-carbon solutions from customers, turning decarbonisation into business opportunities.
Emission Reduction Targets
By 2030, Croda plans to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 42%, focusing on emissions from its own operations. Additionally, the company targets a 25% reduction in absolute scope 3 GHG emissions, which include value chain emissions both upstream and downstream. Croda also aims to cut scope 3 FLAG emissions, related to land-based activities, by 30.3%.
Net Zero Commitment
SBTi has verified Croda's net zero science-based target for 2050. The company has integrated these targets into its business strategies, not only to reduce its own environmental impact but also to assist customers in advancing their decarbonisation objectives.
Industry Collaboration
Phil Ruxton, Chief Sustainability Officer, emphasized the importance of aligning with climate science and encouraged peers, suppliers, and stakeholders to adopt net zero science-based targets. This alignment is crucial for achieving the rapid and deep emission cuts needed to mitigate climate change effects.
