- Longship launch marks a step in carbon capture and storage with a Norway-Switzerland pilot.
- Carbon Centric to deliver CDRs from BECCS Kirkenær project, starting operations in 2028.
- Pilot enables trade of Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes under Paris Agreement.

Longship Launch
The Ministry of Energy launched Longship with a two-day event in Oslo and Brevik, marking a significant step in carbon capture and storage. This initiative establishes the first full value chain for carbon capture and storage.
Norway-Switzerland Collaboration
Norway and Switzerland announced a pilot collaboration for managing carbon removal across borders under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement. This pilot agreement enables countries to collaborate on climate action and trade Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes (ITMOs).
Carbon Centric's Role
Carbon Centric is part of this collaboration, contributing to the pilot by delivering carbon removal credits (CDRs) from the BECCS Kirkenær project. This project is a woodchip-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant operated by Solør Bioenergi, with operations targeted to start in 2028.
International Carbon Credit Trading
The pilot demonstrates how international cooperation can help deliver practical solutions to meet global climate goals, featuring the world's first international transfer of durable, verifiable carbon removal credits fully aligned with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
