Casale signed a contract with Neptun Glomfjord Green Ammonia AS to engineer and supply a 100 MTD modular green ammonia plant at Glomfjord Industrial Park, Norway, under an EPF (Engineering, Procurement & Fabrication) delivery model.
Technology and modular design
The plant will use Casale's SMART‑N™ small‑scale ammonia technology configured as a modular facility, with a design that balances off‑site fabrication and on‑site assembly to reduce site activity and control project costs for small‑scale renewable ammonia production.
Operating flexibility and staged hydrogen rollout
The synthesis unit is designed for wide turndown, operating across 10%–100% of nominal capacity; following a staged strategy for hydrogen production implementation, the synthesis section is expected to run at approximately 50% load for a period after start‑up.
Downstream use and value chain impact
The green ammonia produced at Glomfjord will be processed by third parties into nitric acid, ANS and fertilizers, extending the project's impact into a lower‑carbon nitrogen value chain.
