Casale to deliver EPC and technology for ATOME’s Villeta green fertiliser plant after FID
- Final Investment Decision reached; project moves into execution following completion of overall funding and definitive debt agreements.

Project status
The Villeta Project has reached Final Investment Decision and entered its execution phase, following the completion of the funding structure and execution of definitive debt agreements on 12 March 2026 during the IDB Group Annual Meetings in Asunción. The facility is promoted as the first industrial-scale fertiliser plant using green hydrogen.
Production and offtake
The plant is designed to produce 260,000 tonnes per year of low-carbon Calcium Ammonium Nitrate (CAN). A long-term offtake agreement with Yara International covers the plant’s full production.
Casale’s scope and contract
Casale has been selected as technology provider and EPC contractor, responsible for design, engineering, procurement and construction. In April 2025 Casale and ATOME signed a US$465 million fixed-price, lump-sum EPC contract for delivery of the facility.
Energy, emissions and timeline
The facility will use 100% renewable baseload hydropower and is expected to displace approximately 500,000 tonnes of CO2e per year. Construction is expected to begin shortly after FID, with commercial operation targeted in 2029.
