Pilot plant commissioned
Carbon Clean has commissioned a 2 tonnes-per-day carbon capture pilot at its Global Innovation Centre (GIC) in Navi Mumbai and has produced its first captured CO2, enabling testing and validation of solvents, processes and carbon-capture technologies ahead of commercial deployment.
Facility capabilities
The flexible pilot can simulate flue gas conditions across a range of industrial applications and test both conventional packed-bed and rotating packed-bed technologies. It is part of the GIC’s integrated R&D capability that takes technologies from laboratory development through to pilot-scale validation.
Strategic context
The commissioning coincides with Carbon Clean’s participation in the UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade’s business delegation to India, highlighting UK–India collaboration on clean energy, industrial decarbonisation and advanced manufacturing.
Scale and economic impact
The 77,121 sq ft Global Innovation Centre opened in July 2025 and consolidates solvent development, analytical testing, process development and pilot validation. Carbon Clean forecasts its growth will support more than 150 high-skilled UK jobs by 2030 and a UK supply chain of 24 companies that collectively employ more than 3,000 people.
