Braskem names naphtha carrier Blissful Future, expands low‑emission fleet

Ceremony and fleet build-out
Braskem Trading & Shipping (BT&S) formally named the LR1-class naphtha carrier Blissful Future in China on August 26, 2026. The vessel joins Blooming Future and Beautiful Future in Braskem's liquid transport fleet; Bold Future is due for delivery in January 2027.
Vessel specifications and emissions controls
Blissful Future measures 228 meters and carries 89,500 m³. Braskem states the design reduces CO₂ emissions by approximately 30% compared with the company's current fleet through technologies including a biofuel-capable high-efficiency main engine, a scrubber for SOx, an SCR for NOx, an ultra-low-friction hull coating, VFD systems, a Pre-Swirl Duct and a Twisted Rudder.
Operational role and routes
The LR1 series is intended to transport naphtha on the U.S. Gulf Coast–Brazil route and, when complete, will cover 40–50% of Braskem's naphtha import requirements. Braskem also operates gas carriers Brave Future and Brilliant Future for ethane movements between the United States, Mexico and Brazil.
