- Murlach field redevelopment adds 15,000 boed to ETAP in the North Sea.
- Six projects aim for 150,000 boed combined peak by 2025.
- bp targets 250,000 boed additional production by 2027.
- Murlach project approved in 2023, involves two new wells and infrastructure reuse.

Project Overview
bp has initiated production from the Murlach field in the UK North Sea, marking its sixth major upstream project start-up in 2025. This development is part of bp's strategy to enhance its upstream business.
Production and Infrastructure
The Murlach project is expected to contribute a peak net production of approximately 15,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed) to the Eastern Trough Area Project (ETAP), a hub that has been operational for 27 years. The project involved drilling two new wells, adding subsea equipment, and reusing existing infrastructure.
Strategic Goals
These six projects collectively aim to add around 150,000 boed combined peak production, supporting bp's target to achieve an additional 250,000 boed by the end of 2027. The Murlach redevelopment received government and regulatory approvals in 2023.
Collaboration and Efficiency
bp acquired the Murlach field license after it was relinquished by the previous operator. The project highlights bp's focus on efficiently managing established oil and gas hubs by leveraging existing infrastructure. The development was carried out in collaboration with co-venturer NEO NEXT Energy and supply chain partners.
