Statkraft's Strategic Shift
Statkraft is realigning its strategy to focus on profitable growth in established technologies such as hydropower, solar, wind, and battery solutions. As part of this shift, the company is reducing the number of technologies in its portfolio, including finding new ownership for its biofuel company, Silva Green Fuel.
Transfer of Biofuel Expertise
Silva Green Fuel has been involved in testing and demonstrating advanced biofuel technology, supported by Enova. The accumulated technological expertise and demonstration facility will now be transferred to Silva Biofuel AS, a new entity owned by former employees of Silva Green Fuel DA. Joakim Sværen has been appointed as CEO of the new company.
Future Plans for HTL Technology
The agreement allows the team at Tofte to continue developing biofuel technology, particularly focusing on HTL technology, which is gaining international attention for its potential in reducing emissions in hard-to-abate sectors. Silva Biofuel AS plans to attract investors to further mature the technology with the goal of realizing commercial plants in the future.
Regulatory Approval
The transaction is subject to regulatory approval, marking a significant step in the continuation and potential commercialization of biofuel technology development at Tofte.
