Introduction

BASF Coatings has introduced a digital solution to calculate the carbon footprint of its extensive product portfolio, replacing an older internal application. This tool provides real-time, auditable CO2 data for over 120,000 products.

Data Integration

The new system integrates CO2 data from more than 25,000 globally sourced raw materials and considers energy flows from over 30 BASF Coatings production sites worldwide. This ensures precise emissions capture, even for complex product variants.

BASF Coatings aims to reduce its CO2 footprint by 40% by 2030, compared to 2018 levels. The company leverages sustainable raw materials, renewable energy, and innovative feedstocks to achieve this target.

Additional Tools

Alongside the new CO2 calculation tool, BASF Coatings employs the GLASS tool for OEMs and the EcoImpact Assessment tool for bodyshops. These tools offer a comprehensive view of the painting process, helping customers optimize efficiency, quality, and sustainability.
