Project Progress

Preparations and construction of battery materials plants in Europe are advancing as planned. After casting the foundation for the precursor cathode active material (PCAM) plant in Harjavalta, Finland, construction has officially started. Additionally, construction permits have been secured for the new cathode active material (CAM) plant in Schwarzheide, Germany. Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the multi-step investment project is on schedule for a 2022 start-up.

Production Capacity

The new battery materials plants aim to supply around 400,000 full electric vehicles per year with high-energy density CAM. This aligns with the goal to be a leading global supplier for the automotive industry.

Sustainability Efforts

Through regional production, renewable energy sources, and energy-efficient proprietary process technologies, the new plants in Europe are expected to reduce the CO2 footprint by around 30% compared to the conventional industry standard.

Health and Safety

The health and safety of employees and construction partners are top priorities. Teams have been working safely and diligently to ensure construction is completed on time, enabling the provision of battery materials to customers in 2022.
