BASF's Zorina Fungicide Gains EPA Approval

Key highlights
  • Zorina fungicide, combining Endura and Revysol, is approved by the EPA for use against white mold.
  • In 2024, U.S. soybean farmers lost over 26.1 million bushels due to white mold.
  • BASF invested €919 million in R&D in 2024 for agricultural solutions.
  • BASF's Agricultural Solutions division generated €9.8 billion in sales in 2024.

EPA Approval

Zorina fungicide has received registration from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and is now approved for use, pending state approvals. This fungicide is designed to address significant disease challenges in agriculture.

White Mold Impact

White mold, caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, is a major yield-limiting disease in the Midwest and Northern Plains. In 2024, U.S. soybean farmers faced an estimated loss of over 26.1 million bushels due to this disease.

Fungicide Composition

Zorina combines the white mold performance of Endura fungicide with the broad-spectrum control of Revysol fungicide. This combination aims to provide reliable disease protection for soybeans, canola, and dry beans, enhancing yield potential.

Application Guidelines

For optimal control of white mold, Zorina should be applied preventively at full bloom when crops are most susceptible to infection. This corresponds to the R2 growth stage in soybean and dry bean, and 30 to 50 percent bloom in canola.
