Axens Continues Consultation on Cathode Material Plant Project

Consultation Process

Following a preliminary consultation, Axens and RTE have initiated a continuous consultation process to engage with stakeholders and residents in the Valenciennes Métropole and Portes du Hainaut communities. This aims to maintain transparency and dialogue regarding the cathode active material production plant project.

Project Monitoring

A project monitoring committee has been established, comprising stakeholders interested in the project. The first meeting was held on December 16 at the Valenciennes Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where updates on the project and ongoing studies were presented.

Technical Details

The plant's production capacity is estimated at 39–43 kt/year. Details on the site footprint, layout, water consumption, and the selected cooling system were shared during the meeting.

Upcoming Meetings

A public meeting is scheduled for early April to present project changes and study results related to the Environmental Authorization Application. Additionally, RTE will hold a local consultation session in January to determine the route for the future underground electrical transmission line.
