Agreement scope
Axens and Egyptian Refining Company have signed a long-term collaboration agreement under which Axens will leverage its integrated portfolio of technologies, equipment, catalysts and services to support ERC’s operational, economic and sustainability objectives.
Lifecycle support
Axens will deliver end-to-end expertise across the refining value chain, supporting ERC from early-stage project studies through engineering, unit start-up, operational optimisation and long-term technical follow-up to help ensure reliability, operational excellence and environmental performance.
Refinery role
ERC operates an advanced refining complex in the Greater Cairo area that converts lower-value feedstocks into cleaner transportation fuels meeting international standards, supporting Egypt’s energy security and reducing reliance on refined product imports.
Strategic intent and statements
The partnership builds on an existing collaboration and aims to maximise asset value, improve operational flexibility and reduce environmental impact. Quentin Debuisschert, CEO and Chairman of Axens, described the agreement as a milestone demonstrating Axens’ ability to offer a fully integrated package beyond technology licensing and to support ERC’s ambitions in operational excellence, digital transformation and sustainability. Dr Mohamed Saad, President at ERC, said the agreement reinforces the partnership and will help enhance refinery performance and operational efficiency to support Egypt’s energy needs.
