Egyptian Refining Company (ERC) operates an advanced petroleum refining complex in Mostorod, Greater Cairo, Egypt. Incorporated in 2007, the company upgraded and expanded an existing facility to convert lower-value feedstocks into cleaner transportation fuels meeting international standards, including diesel, jet fuel, and LPG.
ERC is a privately held entity with ownership involving Qalaa Holdings, the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, and international investors including interests linked to Qatar Petroleum. The USD 4.3 billion project, inaugurated in 2020, supports Egypt’s energy security by reducing refined product imports. In 2025, ERC signed a long-term collaboration agreement with Axens covering technology, catalysts, equipment, and services for operational optimization and sustainability.
