Arkema inaugurates SMR hydrogen unit at Jarrie

New SMR unit and investment
Arkema has commissioned a Steam Methane Reforming (SMR) hydrogen production unit at its Jarrie site. The unit represents an investment of approximately €10 million, was commissioned in July 2026 and officially inaugurated on September 22.
Role and programme timeline
The SMR unit supplies hydrogen to the Jarrie facility and constitutes the first phase of a larger investment programme that extends through 2028. Additional projects aimed at optimising hydrogen flows and raw‑material supply are scheduled for commissioning in 2026 and 2027.
Site focus and products
Jarrie is the Group’s largest hydrogen peroxide production site and is refocusing on hydrogen peroxide, sodium chlorate and sodium perchlorate following the January 2025 reorganisation. The site serves sectors including pulp and paper, electronics, water treatment and aerospace, with ArianeGroup noted as a longstanding customer.
