Project Overview
Air Products and Yara are collaborating on low-emission ammonia projects in the U.S. and Saudi Arabia. The partnership aims to leverage Air Products' industrial gas capabilities and Yara's ammonia production and distribution network.
Louisiana Clean Energy Complex
The Louisiana project is set to become the world's largest low-carbon energy complex, producing over 750 million standard cubic feet per day of low-carbon hydrogen. Air Products will develop the project, while Yara will acquire 25% of the ammonia production, storage, and shipping facilities, estimated to cost between $8-9 billion. Final investment decisions are expected by mid-2026, with project completion by 2030.
NEOM Green Hydrogen Project
Located in Saudi Arabia, the NEOM Green Hydrogen Project is over 90% complete and aims to start commercial production in 2027. Air Products will be the sole offtaker of up to 1.2 million tonnes per year of renewable ammonia. A marketing and distribution agreement with Yara is targeted for completion in the first half of 2026.
Strategic Collaboration
This collaboration aims to meet the growing demand for low-emission ammonia, particularly in Europe. Yara, as the world's largest trader and shipper of ammonia, will integrate the ammonia output into its global distribution network. Air Products will supply approximately 80% of the low-carbon hydrogen to Yara under a 25-year agreement, with the remaining hydrogen supplied to its U.S. Gulf Coast customers.
