- Air Products' Louisiana project aims to produce over 750 million standard cubic feet per day of low-carbon hydrogen, capturing 95% of CO2.
- Yara to acquire 25% of the Louisiana project's ammonia facilities, integrating output into its global network.
- NEOM Green Hydrogen Project in Saudi Arabia to start production in 2027, with Air Products as the sole offtaker.
- Final investment decisions for both projects are targeted by mid-2026, with completion expected by 2030.
Project Overview
Air Products and Yara are in advanced negotiations to collaborate on low-emission ammonia projects in the U.S. and Saudi Arabia. The partnership aims to leverage Air Products' industrial gas capabilities and Yara's ammonia production and distribution network.
Louisiana Clean Energy Complex
The Louisiana project is set to become the world's largest low-carbon energy complex, producing over 750 million standard cubic feet per day of low-carbon hydrogen and capturing 95% of CO2 emissions. Yara plans to acquire 25% of the ammonia production, storage, and shipping facilities, integrating the output into its global network. Air Products will supply 80% of the hydrogen to Yara under a 25-year agreement, with the rest distributed via its Gulf Coast pipeline.
NEOM Green Hydrogen Project
The NEOM project in Saudi Arabia is over 90% complete and expected to start commercial production in 2027. Air Products will be the sole offtaker of up to 1.2 million tonnes per year of renewable ammonia. A marketing and distribution agreement is anticipated, allowing Yara to commercialize ammonia not sold as renewable hydrogen in Europe.
Timelines and Investment
Final investment decisions for both projects are targeted by mid-2026, with the Louisiana project expected to be completed by 2030. The collaboration aims to meet the growing demand for low-emission ammonia, particularly in Europe.
