New Alkoxylation Facilities Operational
Solvay has commenced production at its new large-scale alkoxylation plants in Moerdijk, Netherlands, and Singapore. These facilities are strategically located in integrated petrochemical hubs, ensuring a secure supply of ethylene oxide via dedicated pipelines. This setup supports the production of specialty surfactants for various markets.
Moerdijk Plant Ahead of Schedule
The Moerdijk site, positioned between Rotterdam and Antwerp, has started production ahead of schedule to meet regional supply demands. The facility is ramping up its capacity for the third quarter, enhancing its ability to serve key markets in Europe.
Singapore Plant Ramping Up
The Singapore plant, which completed its trial batch production in May, will hold its opening ceremony next month. It is now ramping up to full-scale production. This site strengthens Solvay’s position as Asia’s largest specialty surfactant manufacturer, supported by multiple production sites and research centers in the region.
Applications and Markets
Both facilities produce alkoxylates, essential for Novecare’s specialty surfactants used in products such as shampoos, detergents, paints, lubricants, and plant protection. These developments aim to penetrate key markets in agrochemicals, coatings, home and personal care, industrial, and oil and gas sectors.
