Acquisition Details

Yara has acquired Borealis' 52.15% ownership in the Le Havre urea plant, located on the north-west coast of France. This acquisition follows Borealis' purchase of GPN SA, which included the stake in the Le Havre facility.

Current Holdings

Prior to the acquisition, Yara held 47.85% of the 320,000 metric tons per annum (p.a.) urea production facility and 100% of the 400,000 metric tons p.a. ammonia production facility at the same site. With this transaction, Yara now fully owns the urea plant.

Operational Benefits

The acquisition is expected to simplify the overall management of the facility, benefiting Yara's operations in France and across Europe. It will also provide greater flexibility and optimization of the site.

Production and Market Expansion

Access to an additional 160,000 metric tons of urea p.a. will enable Yara to expand its sales to industrial customers in markets such as nitrogen oxide abatement (DeNOX), AdBlue, and the animal feed sector.

Transition Agreement

The agreement with Borealis includes a urea supply arrangement during a transition period, ensuring a smooth handover and continued supply to existing customers.
