Investment and Capacity Expansion
Solvay is investing over EUR 10 million to double the production capacity for specialty fluorinated aliphatic derivatives at its Salindres, France plant. This expansion aims to meet the growing demand in strategic markets such as energy storage, electronics, and pharmaceuticals. The first stage of the project is currently underway, with the initial additional volumes expected to be available this month.
Targeted Chemicals
The production capacity increase focuses on triflic acid, triflic anhydride (TA, TAA), and Lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI). These chemicals are essential for various applications, including antistatic applications for flat screens, ionic liquids, liquid crystals, the battery market for automobiles and computers, and the pharmaceuticals market.
Strategic Importance
This capacity expansion strengthens the role of the Salindres plant as a major production site for innovative fluorinated aliphatic derivatives. It positions the company to better support the growth of its customers across all regions.
