About World Economic Forum

The World Economic Forum (WEF) is an international organization for public–private cooperation. Established in 1971 as a not-for-profit foundation and headquartered in Switzerland, it convenes leaders from business, government, academia, and civil society to address global, regional, and industry challenges. The WEF is known for its Annual Meeting in Davos and a range of regional and industry gatherings, as well as research and initiatives that explore long-term trends and systemic risks.

For the chemical industry, the Forum provides a neutral platform to advance discussions on decarbonization, the circular economy, plastics and waste management, sustainable supply chains, digital traceability, and standards development. Its programs connect chemical producers, downstream users, technology providers, investors, and policymakers to share data, pilot frameworks, and align on pathways for emissions reduction, resource efficiency, and safer materials. The WEF’s analyses and multistakeholder initiatives are often referenced in strategy, policy, and investment dialogues across the global chemicals and materials value chain.
