About VERT

VERT (Verification of Emission Reduction Technologies Association), legally known as VERT-Verein, is a non-profit organization founded in 1993 in Switzerland. Originally established as AKPF during the NEAT tunneling project, it promotes Best Available Technologies (BAT) for reducing emissions from internal combustion engines, with a primary focus on diesel particulate filters (DPF) and retrofit systems.

VERT develops rigorous testing protocols, certifies high-efficiency emission control technologies—such as DPFs achieving over 98% filtration of solid nanoparticles (20-300 nm)—and publishes the VERT Filter List as an international standard. Its procedures, harmonized with Swiss norm SN 277206, ensure durability after 2,000+ operating hours, low backpressure, no toxic secondary emissions, and reliability in real-world applications.

Pioneering nanoparticle measurement and DPF retrofitting, VERT has influenced global regulations, including mandatory DPF use in European tunneling, U.S. mining, and low-emission zones. Over 400,000 vehicles worldwide, including off-road machinery, feature VERT-certified systems. Members include engine makers, filter manufacturers, universities, and research institutes. VERT supports clean air initiatives, hosts annual forums, and advances retrofit programs for urban mobility and industrial sectors.
