The Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) is an independent research and technology organization based in the Netherlands. Established by law, TNO bridges scientific knowledge and industrial practice, working with companies, governments, and academia to develop, validate, and scale applied technologies.
For the chemical and materials sectors, TNO conducts R&D and pilot-scale work in areas such as polymer and materials science, plastics recycling and circular chemistry, process development and scale-up, industrial decarbonization, carbon capture and utilization/storage, hydrogen and electrification, and digitalization of process operations. Its activities include lab and pilot testing, techno-economic assessment, life-cycle analysis, safety and regulatory support, and performance validation. Through multidisciplinary programs, TNO supports industry in improving resource efficiency, reducing emissions, and enabling circular material flows.
