TenneT Holding B.V.

About TenneT

TenneT Holding B.V. is a European electricity transmission system operator (TSO) owned by the Dutch state and headquartered in Arnhem, Netherlands. It operates the national high‑voltage grid in the Netherlands and manages a large part of Germany’s high‑voltage network via its subsidiary TenneT TSO GmbH. The company plans, builds, operates, and maintains onshore and offshore transmission infrastructure and oversees real‑time system operations to ensure secure and reliable power supply.

TenneT plays a central role in integrating renewable energy—especially offshore wind in the North Sea—into the power system, and in facilitating cross‑border electricity flows through interconnectors developed with partner TSOs (e.g., BritNed, NorNed, COBRAcable, NordLink). It provides grid access, balancing and ancillary services, and market facilitation for electricity trading. Its networks support energy‑intensive sectors, including the chemical industry, by enabling grid stability, electrification, and decarbonization of industrial processes across the Netherlands and Germany.
