Societatea Națională de Gaze Naturale Romgaz S.A. (Romgaz) is Romania’s largest natural gas producer and a state-controlled energy company headquartered in Mediaș. Its core activities span exploration and production of natural gas and condensate, predominantly onshore in Romania, with involvement in offshore projects in the Black Sea. Romgaz also operates underground gas storage through its subsidiary Depogaz, and conducts gas marketing and trading to support domestic supply and system balancing.
The company is involved in gas-fired power generation at Iernut, integrating upstream resources with electricity production. Romgaz plays a central role in Romania’s energy security by managing mature fields, investing in new resources, and operating critical storage infrastructure that supports seasonal demand and market stability.
