National Association of Manufacturers

About NAM

The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is a U.S. trade association representing more than 14,000 small, medium-sized, and large manufacturers across all industrial sectors, including chemicals. Founded in 1895 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., NAM serves as a nonpartisan voice for the manufacturing economy.

NAM advocates before Congress, federal agencies, and the courts on issues such as tax and trade policy, energy and environmental regulation, infrastructure, supply chains, technology and innovation, and workforce and immigration. It publishes economic analyses and industry surveys and convenes members to share policy perspectives and operational best practices.

For the chemical industry, NAM engages on topics including air and greenhouse-gas standards, TSCA implementation, permitting and site safety, product stewardship, and process and materials innovation—focusing on regulatory clarity, competitiveness, and resilient domestic manufacturing. Its workforce affiliate, the Manufacturing Institute, supports talent pipeline development and skills training across manufacturing, including for chemical producers.
