About Mubadala Capital

Mubadala Capital is a global alternative asset management platform and subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, the Abu Dhabi-based sovereign investor. Headquartered in Abu Dhabi with offices including Rio de Janeiro, it manages hundreds of billions in assets across private equity, credit, and special opportunities. The firm has maintained a presence in Brazil since 2012 and established Acelen to operate the Mataripe refinery. In 2023 it launched Acelen Renewables to develop large-scale renewable fuels production, including a planned biorefinery in Bahia using HEFA technology to produce sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel from soybean oil, used cooking oil, and macaúba. The project, supported by $1.5 billion in financing from international lenders, is slated for 2029 startup with capacity of up to 1 billion liters annually.
