Mitsubishi Chemical Methacrylates is the dedicated global business for methyl methacrylate (MMA) and related methacrylates within the Mitsubishi Chemical Group. It is the world’s largest producer of MMA, the key building block for all acrylic materials, supplying monomers and polymers used in automotive parts, construction materials, medical devices, paints, coatings, signage, furniture, and consumer products.

The business operates 11 monomer plants and 6 polymer facilities across Asia, the Americas, and Europe, with key sites in Singapore (global oversight), the United States, Saudi Arabia (joint venture), the United Kingdom, and other locations in Europe and Asia. Formed in April 2021 by unifying regional operations previously known as Lucite International and other subsidiaries, the entity is a wholly owned part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group, headquartered in Japan. The UK-registered company Mitsubishi Chemical Methacrylates Limited functions as a central holding and operational entity within this structure, with registered offices in Billingham.

The company focuses on innovation and sustainability, pursuing circular economy initiatives such as molecular recycling of PMMA back to MMA in partnership with technologies like those from Agilyx, in line with the group’s KAITEKI philosophy of sustainable well-being for people, society, and the planet.
