Maatschappij Linkerscheldeoever (MLSO) is the public development company responsible for the planning and management of Antwerp’s Left Bank (Linkeroever), including the Waaslandhaven area of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges in Flanders, Belgium. It oversees industrial land development and long-term concessions, working with regional authorities, municipalities, and industry.
MLSO enables the growth of the port’s chemical and process industry cluster by preparing sites, coordinating spatial planning and environmental considerations, and facilitating backbone infrastructure such as roads, rail, waterways, utilities, and pipeline corridors. The organization supports projects that improve energy efficiency, circularity, and multimodal logistics, helping anchor large-scale chemical, energy, and logistics investments within the Antwerp industrial ecosystem.
The ECLUSE tunnel will transport steam across the Scheldt, enhancing energy efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions by connecting waste-to-energy facilities with industrial users.
ECLUSE 2 will transport steam under the Scheldt, reducing CO2 emissions by 100,000 tons annually and supporting green energy goals with a new tunnel for future industrial connections.
ECLUSE reduces CO2 emissions by 100,000 tonnes annually by supplying steam from waste incineration to six chemical companies, supporting Flemish climate goals.
