Looop B.V. is a Dutch company based in Venlo, specializing in the valorization of organic residual streams from the food and agri-food industry into high-quality co-products. These co-products serve as sustainable alternatives for livestock feed, pet food, insect farming, green energy production, bio-fermentation, soil improvement, and water purification, contributing to reduced food waste and lower CO₂ emissions in a circular economy.
With over 35 years of experience, Looop provides logistics solutions including specialized transport, storage, and transhipment facilities for liquid and moist co-products. The company collaborates with partners across the value chain to enhance circularity.
In the chemical industry context, Looop supplies agri-food side streams as feedstock for bioplastic production, notably partnering with Paques Biomaterials on PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoates) projects. This includes a pilot facility at GETEC Park Emmen for PHA from dairy by-products and the PRECEDING project for a full-scale PHA plant in Emmen converting organic waste into biopolymers.
In partnership with Looop, pilot will convert dairy by‑products (third validated sidestream after sewage sludge and paper process water) into PHA biomass and polymers, aiming for Q1 2026.
PRECEDING project, funded by RVO's TSE program, will deliver conceptual design and business case to commercialize PHA from organic side streams as a natural alternative to fossil plastics.
