Ghana National Petroleum Corporation

About GNPC

Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) is Ghana’s state-owned national oil company. Established by law in 1983, it is mandated to promote, appraise, develop, and produce the country’s petroleum resources, manage the State’s participating interests in petroleum agreements, and provide geoscience data and licensing support to the upstream sector.

GNPC works in partnership with international operators across Ghana’s offshore basins in the Gulf of Guinea, notably the Tano–Cape Three Points area, and participates in exploration, field development, and production activities. The corporation also facilitates the commercialization of associated and non-associated natural gas for domestic power generation and industrial use. Through these roles, GNPC underpins Ghana’s energy supply and provides hydrocarbons—crude oil, condensates, and natural gas—that serve as critical feedstocks for downstream energy and industrial applications.
