Gasgrid Finland Oy is a Finnish state-owned company and the transmission system operator (TSO) for natural gas and biogas in Finland. Established on January 1, 2020, through the unbundling of Gasum Ltd's transmission assets to comply with EU market liberalization rules following the Balticconnector pipeline's completion, it manages approximately 1,200 km of high-pressure pipelines and nine compressor stations primarily in southern Finland.
The company ensures safe, reliable, and cost-efficient gas transmission, connected to Estonia via the Balticconnector at Ingå/Inkoo and previously to Russia at Imatra (discontinued in 2022). It supports biogas injection and is actively developing infrastructure for hydrogen and other renewable gases to advance Finland's carbon-neutral energy system.
As a member of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) and participant in the European Hydrogen Backbone initiative, Gasgrid Finland promotes cross-border integration and market growth, including recent involvement in clean hydrogen alliances like the European Resilience Alliance (ERA).
