Clean Hydrogen Partnership is the European Union’s public–private partnership dedicated to research and innovation in renewable hydrogen and fuel cell technologies under the Horizon Europe program. Based in Brussels, it brings together the European Commission, industry (via Hydrogen Europe), and the research community (via Hydrogen Europe Research) to accelerate the development and deployment of clean hydrogen across the EU.
The partnership funds and manages multiannual R&I programs, issuing competitive calls and overseeing projects from early-stage research to large-scale demonstrations such as Hydrogen Valleys. Its scope covers green hydrogen production (notably electrolysis), storage, distribution, and end-use in industry, transport, and energy systems, alongside work on safety, standards, and sustainability. In addition to grants, it provides coordination and advisory services to improve project readiness and support scale-up of the European hydrogen value chain. Clean Hydrogen Partnership is the successor to the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU) and aims to help decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors and enhance Europe’s industrial competitiveness in hydrogen technologies.
