About BRICI

The Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Industry (BRICI), legally known as 中国石油化工股份有限公司北京化工研究院, is a leading research institute under China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec). Established in June 1958, it is one of China's earliest and largest institutions dedicated to comprehensive petrochemical research, with historical roots tracing back to 1922.

Headquartered in Beijing's Chaoyang District, BRICI operates a "one institute, three locations" structure, including branches in Tongzhou and Fangshan districts, as well as facilities in Tianjin. Its core research domains encompass ethylene technology, organic chemicals, polyolefin catalysts and processes, high-polymer materials, synthetic resins, synthetic rubber, fine chemicals, silver catalysts, and chemical environmental protection.

BRICI supports Sinopec's operations through innovations such as metallocene catalysts for polyolefin elastomers (POE), crude oil steam cracking, and high-efficiency polyethylene catalysts, contributing to domestic capacity expansions in photovoltaics and new-energy vehicles. The institute has earned international recognition, including multiple Gold Awards at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions.
