The new plant will be operational by end of 2016, increasing total capacity to 22,000 T/Y. Malic Acid demand is driven by food, beverage, confectionery, and technical applications.

Originally designed in 1979, the plant switched from benzene to N-butane in 2006 for environmental and financial reasons, producing 9,600 tonnes of crude Maleic Anhydride in the first year.

The plant, licensed by BASF, produces 22,000 metric tons of Phthalic anhydride and 700 metric tons of Maleic anhydride annually, selling mainly to Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Greece, and Ukraine.
