Overview

WRAP has launched the UK Packaging Pact, a ten-year initiative bringing nearly 100 organisations across the packaging value chain to collaborate on reducing waste, cutting emissions and preparing for future regulation.

Scope and context

Building on the UK Plastics Pact, the agreement expands to cover all packaging materials and responds to rising global waste and cost pressures linked to resource use and volatile energy markets.

Actions and targets

Signatories will optimise packaging design, scale reuse and refill systems, support investment in recycling infrastructure and improve data harmonisation to boost recovery and circularity.

Policy engagement

The Pact offers an industry platform to help shape evolving UK policy, including Extended Producer Responsibility, so businesses can align with forthcoming regulatory reforms.
