- A new production line for recycled polypropylene will be built in Carling, France.
- The line will produce 15,000 tons per year and is scheduled for commissioning in 2024.
- It will use up to 100% recycled plastic materials, including post-consumer waste and end-of-life automotive parts.
- This investment supports TotalEnergies' goal of producing 30% circular polymers by 2030.
New Production Line in Carling
TotalEnergies is constructing a new production line for high-performance recycled polypropylene at its polymer plant in Carling, France. This addition will enhance the Carling – Saint-Avold petrochemical platform, which has been producing value-added compounds for the automotive industry since 2016.
Production Capacity and Schedule
The new line is scheduled for commissioning in 2024 and will have a production capacity of 15,000 tons per year. It will produce polypropylene compounds containing up to 100% recycled plastic materials, sourced from both post-consumer waste and end-of-life automotive parts.
Environmental Impact
This initiative is part of TotalEnergies' RE:clic portfolio, specifically the RE:use polymers range, which utilizes a mechanical recycling process. The new line aims to address the challenges of the circular economy in Europe by providing low-carbon materials that meet high-quality standards and technical requirements for the automotive sector.
Strategic Goals
This investment aligns with TotalEnergies' ambition to produce 30% circular polymers by 2030, further strengthening its position in the market for high value-added recycled polymers. The new line will help meet the growing demand for more efficient and sustainable polymers in the automotive industry.
