Order and scope

thyssenkrupp nucera has secured a chlor‑alkali technology order in China in the low double‑digit million‑euro range. The scope covers licensing, engineering, procurement services, supply of key equipment and commissioning supervision for a large‑scale chlor‑alkali project in Northwest China.

Technology

The customer selected thyssenkrupp nucera’s e‑BiTAC v7 technology for highly energy‑efficient chlor‑alkali electrolysis. The e‑BiTAC v7 builds on the established BiTAC platform and is specified to achieve power consumption below 1,960 kWh per tonne of NaOH at 6 kA/m², aiming to improve operational performance, reliability and lifecycle value.

Customer and strategic fit

Hongniu Lanzhou, a wholly owned subsidiary of Jiangsu Hongniu, focuses on industrial waste salt recycling, chemical manufacturing, environmental technology R&D and technical consulting. The project represents the group’s market entry into chlor‑alkali production and is the first contract awarded to thyssenkrupp nucera by Hongniu Lanzhou, potentially laying groundwork for a longer‑term strategic collaboration.

Market context

The order aligns with thyssenkrupp nucera’s strategy to expand its installed base and strengthen its position in China, a market driven by industrial demand, capacity expansion, modernization, efficiency improvements and environmental requirements for chlor‑alkali production.
